Varsity Head Coach - Derrick Peterson

A native of Lakewood, Coach Derrick Peterson has deep roots in this community, where he and his family resided during his childhood. Coach Peterson is a graduate of Alameda High School, and the University of Northern Colorado where he received a degree in Mathematical Education and a minor in physics. A student-athlete himself, Coach Peterson began his baseball-coaching career while attending UNC. In 2007, he was named Head Coach of the Junior Varsity Baseball program at his High School alma mater. In 2009, Derrick accepted an Assistant Head Coaching position for Lakewood High School's JV team.   Demonstrating a strong vision for the program, Coach Peterson was named Varsity Head Coach in the summer of 2009.   In addition to his baseball-coaching responsibilities, Coach Peterson also coaches Wrestling and is a full time Math teacher at LHS.  

Varsity Assistant Coach - Neal Julian

Neal Julian began his coaching career in 2006 at Alameda High School where he coached both football and baseball prior to joining the LHS Baseball staff as Catching Coach in 2010. A native of Pennsylvania, Neal is a graduate of Alameda High School where he was an all-around athlete, competing in baseball, football and basketball. His passion for baseball continued in college at the University of Northern Colorado, where he played club baseball. Coach Julian is a graduate of Metro State College of Denver where he majored in Human Development and holds a minor in Psychology. Outside of coaching Neal enjoys working out, playing sports, and spending time with his family and friends.

Varsity Assistant Coach - Scott Weaver

A native Kansas farm boy, Coach Weaver moved West to Colorado with his family in 1970 and has been a part of the Jeffco community ever since. His childhood educational path took him through the halls of Columbia Heights and Lumberg Elementary, Wheat Ridge Jr. High and Jefferson High School, where he excelled in baseball, basketball and tennis. His desire to teach and coach lead him to the University of Northern Colorado in
Greeley where he Majored in Physical Education and Minored in Mathematics. His coaching career began at Fredrick High School, where he served as the Head Baseball Coach from 1989-1996. In 1999, Coach
Weaver returned to Jeffco to teach Physical Education and Math at Lakewood High School. That same year he coached the Varsity Baseball team at Evergreen High School. In 2000, he was named Varsity Baseball
Coach at Lakewood High School which he held through 2009. The father of two children, Coach Weaver took a brief hiatus from the LHS Baseball program in 2010 to spend more time with his family. He returns to the
program as Varsity Assistant Coach and is very excited to be back on the field working with Coach Peterson and a fine group of student athletes!

Junior Varsity Head Coach - Kermit Wood

Kermit Wood grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma and his love of skiing brought him to Colorado in 1995. He attended the University of Kansas and received his degree in Education from Emporia State University (Emporia, Kansas). Coach Wood, who has coached baseball and football at Lakewood High School since 2002, is a Social Studies teacher at Creighton Middle School. Outside of sports, Kermit loves to spend time with his family.
